SHE network in the start of 2015:

Sharing expertise to promote health in schools

SHE consultation for ECDC and Cantabria

On 19 January 2015 members of the SHE planning committee  participated in a brainstorming session on ‘prevention of communicable diseases in schools and child care settings’, organized by the European Centre of Disease Control (ECDC) in Sweden. There is no common EU-approach to the control of communicable diseases in school and other child care settings.

On 12 February 2015 Goof Buijs made a study visit to the regional SHE network of Cantabria. The one day programme included a meeting with the Education minister of the region, a visit to 2 health promoting schools, a cooking project in the Esperanza market with a Michelin star cook, and a workshop with 35 school coordinators. More than 60% of all schools in Cantabria are now involved in the SHE regional network, which was done in 2 years time. The health promoting school approach seems to have been introduced in the right time and supports educational change in Spain.

Non communicable diseases (NCD) prevention workshop in Kiev, Ukraine

On 27 – 29 January 2015 a workshop was organized by the WHO country office in Kiev, Ukraine on the prevention of non communicable diseases in the school setting.
