School health promotion across the Finnish-Russian border
The project was started in 2013 with baseline surveys among 5th-graders, their parents and teachers.
According to Post Doc Researcher Marjorita Sormunen (photo), the development activities, implemented in four pilot schools during the academic year 2013-2014, consisted of the following:
- expanding on health educational materials;
- developing operational models;
- training school staff on health promotion and home-school collaboration.

The results from the post-intervention surveys will be published in the final seminar in October 2014.
The project is co-funded by the European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland (Karelia ENPI cross-border cooperation programme).
